This quick edit will improve your grant writing significantly
Grant writing is so often about the “big picture” at hand. We spend hours upon hours discussing and digesting issues surrounding demonstrating a significant need, developing a strong budget, and gathering all the necessary details about a specific program.
These are all important things to concentrate on, but once you’ve mastered this, it’s important to look at sentence-level issues for improving your grant’s chances of succeeding.
And that is to simply edit out all instances where you describe what your organization “hopes to” or “will attempt to” achieve. Rather than using this language, say what you will accomplish if given the funding. This will simply make your writing stronger and more forceful, and imbue a sort of self-confidence that can increase your chances at securing the grant award.
